The Ligenda Combined School Screening Service involves screening all mandates simultaneously. This is easily accomplished with the vision and hearing mandates as both mandates are screening the same population and can occur at the same location. Scoliosis screening involves a different age group than the other mandates, and more privacy is necessary for this screening. However, this mandate can easily be screened at the same time also.
The are tremendous benefits of the simultaneous screenings process:
- Efficient use of school staff time: The Ligenda Combined School Screening Service can be accomplished in approximately half the time that is needed to perform separate screenings. This screening method is just as thorough and detailed as the independent screens.
- Minimal disruption to student learning hours: When all screenings are conducted separately, students leave class for the screening anywhere from two to five times during the school year, depending on if a second screening and scoliosis screening is required. Combined screenings require that students class time be interrupted at most, twice during the school year.
- Efficient use of school funds: By minimizing the number of screening days, simultaneous screenings offer tremendous savings for school sites. Please call us to discuss how your costs can be reduced.
How simultaneous screenings occur:
- An appropriate ratio of screeners per student will be discussed with you when planning for your screening. Student population, time allocated for the screening, site preferences and special considerations will be discussed during your planning session.
- Vision, hearing, and scoliosis screening will each occur at their own station. Students will file, one at a time to each station where they are to be screened. When they are finished, they return to class. In ideal scenarios, a student can return to class within 15 minutes.
