The Ligenda Associates School Scoliosis Screening Program is designed to screen a large number of students with the purpose of supporting the early detection and intervention of scoliosis.
Your scoliosis screening meets state requirements and will be conducted by a team of Registered Nurses trained in detecting scoliosis. Your screening will involve the following:
- Separate screening of the boys from the girls, for privacy reasons
- The Adam's Forward Bend Test will be done. Students are asked to bend over at the waist as if they were touching their toes, then slowly rise again. Our screener gets their eyes level with the students back and looks for any asymmetry of the back.
- During the screening, our nurse will need to look at the students back. Some students will prefer to remove their shirt, others prefer to raise the back of the shirt only. Our screeners place high priority on respecting individual student preferences and are comfortable adapting each screening to the individual.
- The preparation of Individualized student screening reports, referral letters and documentation for school site
- Education materials and instructions for site
